Tuna Rotini. Ready in 10 minutes!

I usually buy canned fish packed in olive oil rather than in water, for added flavor, and for the infused olive oil that can add flavor to the dishes. I also prefer canned fish from Europe as they taste better to me.

Here is the tuna pasta from my kitchen:

Ingredients
a can of tuna packed in olive oil, tuna and oil separated
frozen peas
a box of rotini
fried minced garlic (or fresh minced garlic)
salt and pepper
The white stuff is the oil from a canned tuna that I reserved from the other dish
Bought this jar of tuna from Costco the other day.

How

  1. Cook rotini pasta in accordance with the instructions on package. Do not add any oil into the water for cooking pasta. Only add salt.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat up a deep frying pan.
  3. Add the olive oil from the canned tuna into the pan then add the fried minced garlic. Cook on low heat until fragrant.
  4. Turn the heat to high and add the frozen peas. Stir until they are thawed and heated through, about 3 minutes.
  5. Add tuna. Use the spatula to break the tuna into small pieces.
  6. Drain the cooked pasta and reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
  7. Add the pasta into the pan and stir well. Add the pasta water a little bit at a time until the pasta mixture reaches a consistency to your like. You don't have to add all the pasta water. Continue to stir for 2 - 3 minutes.
  8. Add salt to taste then serve hot.
Keep in mind that the pasta water already has salt. So taste the pasta before adding salt at the end.
